2 Quotes

I’ve been reading some incredible books which I definitly recommend… It is kinda funny because I had such a long list of books to read this summer – mostly books given to me. However, my only real time to read is at work when I work the overnights. And the collection of books here is outstanding, and I can’t check them out. So I’ve been reading the books here. Maybe one day I’ll get to the rest of the books I wanted to. Anyway here are quotes from two sweet books.

“Without this [humility], there can be no true abiding in God’s presence, or experience of His favor and the power of His Spirit; without this, no abiding faith or love or joy or strength. Humility is the only soil in which virtue takes root; a lack of humility is the reason for every defect and failure. Humility is not so much a virtue, but is the root of all, because it alone takes the right attitude before God and allows Him, as God to do all.” -Andrew Murray p. 17 Humility

“Almost every significant movement in Christendom originated in a powerful, supernatural work of God’s Spirit. Yet most of these movements no longer emphasize the grace and power of God. While they may have achieved religious and intellectual respectability, they have forfeited God’s favor. Putting human ability and material resources in the place of divine grace exalts the carnal over the spiritual. Often theology is exalted above revelation, academic achievement above character, psychology over discernment, programs over the leading of the Holy Spirit, eloquence above supernatural power, human reason above the walk of faith, musical talent above true worship and laws above love. Paul struggled with legalism in the church of Galatia, crying, ‘You foolish Galatians! …After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? …All who rely on observing the law are under a curse’ (Gal. 3:1,3,10).” -Derek Prince pp. 32-33 Blessings and Curses
